Books or computers???

Filed under: Uncategorized —— carpinellit @ 1:43 pm

Some people say that there won’t be a future for print books – that we’ll all be reading e-books or some other form of literature on computers only. Do you think that’s true? Do you think you would miss being able to “cuddle up with a good book?”

I can’t really say if it will be true or not, I can only *hope* it isn’t
true. I like computers but I wouldn’t want to read books on them. I like
being able to carry my books with me and read them in class. So I would
definitely miss being able to “cuddle up with a book”. ^_^

I dont think that we should read books on the computer.I love to “cuddle with a good book”. Plus your eyes start to hurt if you look at the screen too long. lol But I really think that if computers take over everything, we could lose sight of what books really stand for!

  3.   Destanie P. Says:

Books on computers sounds ok for those that are computer fens, but for people who need to read a book, or have a book all the time should have a normal hard/ soft back book! Also I love to read but if it is on a computer I believe that you could start to get head aches and than your eyes would hurt! And to “cuddle up with a good book” is what would be my choice any day and any time!

I enjoy being able to read a book any where i go. if all literature is on computers then i will read only the books from the past.
i hope very much that this is just a rumor and books will always be on paper but nothing can stop the future. books are easy
to carry and easy to use. i am not very good with computers and this will just feel unnatural. You can right now if you have one of
those handheld coputers down load books but that is a waste of money. Like destanie says after a while your eyes would start to hurt
and you couldnt read for more than a few hours at best.

I have read many stories online and after awhile it does take a good toll on the eyes.
Its just not as personal if your sitting in front of a computer than when you could sit one
of your favorite POOF chairs and read a book. The atmosphere is much different with a
computer and it just doesnt relax you as much as if you were to really cuddle up with a
    great book. ^_^

I would have to say that print books are here to stay. Computers are not bad but they will
never be able to replace regular books. It is alot more comfortable to curl up in a comfy spot
then it is to have to read a computer screen. Regular books are deffinately here to stay!!!

Thank you all for your opinions! I sure hope you all are correct, ’cause I just can’t imagine our library without books, or cuddling up with a “book on computer!” I think there will always be a place for books . . .

  8.   Dani Rutherford Says:

I would have to boycott the making of books online. Staring at a computer screen gives me headaches, and that would take the fun away from reading. Print books have to stay, it isn’t an option. Cuddling up with a good book is one thing that makes reading so special.

  9.   Cory Hutchinson Says:

With th current course of our expansion and evolutions in technology, I would say in the nxt 5yrs u can say good
bye to writen books. It is jst more convinent to carry 1,000 book on your hard drive then it is to actually carry a 1,000
books. It tends to be the fate of our world, the rise of technology = the fall of literature
(It was the same for the Romans and the fall of Rome).

  10.   liz snyder Says:

books will go to computers soon
i would be surprise if they didn’t
but i pray that will always keep
    the written books around
so i can cuddle up in comfortable spot and read
as far as things beingon the computer
many people are writing their own twist or stories on
the shows they watch, or books they
read. you can type the show/book name or names of chactars
    in a search engine
and type fanfiction to see what others have written
its a lot fun when can’t find book to read

  11.   Paul Weidman Says:

i love comupters… i hate books, computers would be more fun to read off of…

  12.   Dakota LaRoche Says:

I think it is true that there will be computers and not books in the future and I will miss them. But humans have to
progress to survive. I wish it won’t happen but it probally will and there isn’t much we can do to stop it. It could be
a good thing also. Like Cory Hutchinson says “it is more convinent to carry 1000 books in a hard drive then to carry
    them around with you.

  13.   Dustin Wilson Says:

I think that the computer with books stored on it would be great because for one, you can find most any book you want on the internet. Also some people think they they type better then writing so that might encourage them to write a letter or poem or they might want to go further in the minds to create a short story. You never know, someday all computer might have some books premade on them! :)

  14.   Lauren M Says:

I think that if we dont have books anymore things would deffinetly be different. Im nnot a fan of reading so it would be fun to try something new.

  15.   Allison Priole Says:

I think that we would need books more then computers because it is easier to read something that you can bring somewhere other then something that you have to sit in a desk reading. Also if you have to read all books of the internet some people that like to read would stop reading because they can’t read sitting at a desk they need to be out side and read or something of some sort I would think I would miss reading books if they went to computers because i get headaches when i look at the screen to much, so I wouldn’t read as much.

  16.   Shumacabra (Shawn Shuman) Says:

I don’t care really. It doesn’t take away from anything in the book or give it anything. It could add some impact to certain scenes though within dialogue, but I don’t think it necessarily affects the book as a whole.

  17.   Shumacabra (Shawn Shuman) Says:

Sorry, I meant to post that last comment in the “Cursing in Books” section. Well anyway, this topic doesn’t really interest me at all, so just ignore the fact that I said anything.

  18.   Tanner Lafferty Says:

i think books online will become popular eventually but i still think paper books will always be th most widely common
form of book. There will always be people who dont have computers via lack of currency but books are more reasonably
priced. Then again i could see some companys publishing books online and you could have to pay to read them with a
credit card or however they have it set up. publishing a webpage is alot more cost efficent then printing books but
then again who will sit infront of a computer to read a book no one can sit that long.((well maybe some people))
